Travel days!
I feel like I should have prefaced that I have not been on a plane since Junior year of high school when I was an FCCLA state officer and traveled to Los Angeles for National Convention! My first flight out of Billings was a breeze (except for the heavy emotional toll on all parties involved). I even landed in Minneapolis early - but I had a 6-hour layover before my overseas flight!
My second flight went great I had manicotti for dinner and french toast for breakfast! I was able to watch a few movies and get a few hours of sleep. I landed in Amsterdam at 6 in the morning and my first stop was a bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. I had to go through customs to get to my gate, but that was fairly simple and now have a stamp in my passport! I had a 3-hour layover until my next flight, so I grabbed some snacks and read on my kindle for a bit.
I slept for most of my flight to Budapest from Amsterdam to tally up a total of 8 hours of sleep in 36 hours! I landed in Budapest at noon and grabbed my baggage and was then on the move looking for a bus to get me to the train station (not the same kind of train station that is in Yellowstone). I found a professor that will be teaching at the University here and she was able to help me get a ticket and find the right train.
The train ride gave me the opportunity to soak in the countryside of Hungary I saw a lot of farm ground with pivots, a few cows, and sheep. It was very peaceful compared to the flights I had been on and staying awake was a bit more difficult than I anticipated - it was a 2 hour and 40-minute ride.
I hopped off the train and the real chaos began! I had some difficulties finding the tram (they call it a bus) to the University but eventually I figured it out after a few stressful phone calls and visiting with strangers in the station that spoke very little English.
I arrived at the campus and found someone to give me directions to my dorm and got checked in and slept for 12 hours! I went to a Cafe this morning on campus for a cappuccino and some water before heading back to my dorm to work on this post and prep for registration.
Below are some photos of the dorm (check out that old TV) and I only grabbed 1 photo while actually on the plane because of the chaos!
I will try and have another post up this week after registering for classes and walking campus!
