A cozy week in

Well if I am being honest this week’s blog post is going to be pretty short and sweet.

Monday: I went to class and did some grocery shopping. Flora and I went to the Italian bakery again for coffee and sweets and enjoyed a sunny day.

Tuesday: This week’s party theme is the 90s, so I went out and thrifted an iconic overall and flannel pairing for Wednesday night. I also called to visit with Jessica about finalizing our travel plans for her next week!

Wednesday: I had my literature class in the morning and spent the afternoon reading more poems. We went out with Charlotte and met a group of Spanish and French ESN students on the tram. Neither of us had a class until later on Thursday so we were out pretty late (or early).

Thursday: We slept in and grabbed lunch at the canteen before getting ready for each of our classes. Adeline and Charlotte had not been to the canteen yet, so we planned a lunch date for Friday!

Friday: The rain will be settling in for the next week, so after lunch in the canteen the four of us walked down to the city center for coffee and sweets to enjoy the sun before it’s gone. We chatted for several hours in our little bubble before going to ALDI for some cleaning supplies and groceries. Since most of the dorm is gone for the weekend, I was able to secure a washing machine key on the first and get 2 loads done for the week!

Saturday: Adeline and I were up early to go the animal shelter with a group of ESN students. We were able to walk a pair of dogs that liked each other (see the photos of them below), it was roughly an hour walk before returning to the shelter and checking out the cats and the rest of the dogs. After that, we headed back into town where we met Flora in the city center for brunch. We went to the Black Sheep Cafe again since we were all starving from a busy morning! We walked back to the dorm and were ready to call it a night! I had a late night peanut butter sandwich (the brand is called “The American”).

Sunday: Flora and I decided to walk down to the city center yet again for brunch today. We went to a place called Aranytology Kavezo (Golden Oak Coffee Shop). The menu was huge and we will definitely be planning another trip back to try out more of their options. After fueling up with a big late lunch, we decided to walk over to a local cookie shop that offers 50% discounts to ESN students. He is only open until he sells out so we were a bit worried, but we were still able to get the brookie (it was Flora’s first one ever) and a free cookie since it was our first time in the shop. Since we were still super full from lunch, we decided we would wait to eat them until we were back in the dorm and our food had time to settle.

Jessica is visiting me this week (it will be her first time in Europe) and I am so excited! She will be staying with me here in Debrecen for a few days before we go on adventure to Amsterdam and Paris. Stay tuned for next weeks blog, but it will be coming in a few days late since we won’t be back until Tuesday.
